Project Analysis
The outcome of the project was more than I was expecting, students were able to share their knowledge and experience with other students around the school. A lot of other students asked me to join the club, but we were mostly at the end of the school year and it would be awkward to be there just for one or two days. I invited them to be part as soon as the new school year starts. I know for sure that the student's experience was blown up. The principal’s son was in the club and he was very amazed by the activities and fun we had, especially tasting so many different food flavors. Every student who participated was very happy in it and I know they will come back with more people next year.
My project made a beautiful difference in how students learn a new language learning. Some of them expressed that being in a fun environment where they feel secure because nobody laughs at their mistakes instead of encouraging them. Others expressed to have more clarification on what happened with our Hispanic/Latino community. At the beginning of the school year, I had a vague idea of what I would be doing with the club. I did not think about the outcome I had from the club. I was just planning activities to “pass a great time” instead of “passing the time learning and having fun”.
My point of view about what they are capable of changed 180 degrees. They amazed me and they pushed me forward to incorporate more in-depth activities. I am 100% sure that if you had the opportunity to interview the participants, you would have this answer. Students demonstrated to me that I had developed an excellent project and that I completed it successfully and effectively. Just learning that other students want to participate in the Spanish club next year, made me understand that I completed it with more success than I’ve ever imagined.
The most valued and memorable experience of the project is the last activity, the visit to the restaurant. They showed me that all the planning, thinking, design, and hours spent on preparing materials for the club were worth it. I will keep that experience forever and I know they also felt the same way. All the experiences I had completed in the club will help me in my future in both aspects, personally and professionally. As I had mentioned before, my leadership skills grew and I am more confident in my leadership and personal skills. I am more optimistic and I can accept any challenge life throws me. I had a lot of fun with this Project and I hope to do it better next year!
